6th grade Visual Arts and Communication & Media Arts classes will be designing a fully immersive installation exhibit in conjunction with the Figge's exhibition by Didier William.
Last week, students met with Brian Allen from the Figge Art Museum to learn about the project. The exhibit will be installed in Studio 1 to serve as an interactive component for museum visitors. A Project Based Learning (PBL) approach will be integrated into the curriculum and students will be posed with the following essential questions: - How can we design an interactive space that is inspired by the themes found in Didier William's work? - How can we communicate our memories within a museum space? - How do memories and personal experiences build connections within our community? - How can our installation exhibit reach a diverse audience? Students will assess what they know and need to know about the challenge of designing a fully immersive installation exhibit. Their work will be guided by professional experts in museum programming, education, and art. Students will be responsible for designing and curating an interactive community art space. The imagery will be generated by students based on personal memories. Students will explore the ways color, shape and pattern can express a mood, time, and place. Students will exhibit both two-dimensional and media art. The media art component will utilize a rotoscoping animation technique. Students will design a collaborative installation and community artmaking opportunity. This element will represent memories and the connections they form. Each museum visitor who experiences this space will be invited to participate in the construction of this evolving artwork. Stay tuned for more information and important dates! The exhibit will open in February 2020.
