Congratulations to our CAA students who participated in this year’s Emerging Excellence Event hosted by the Creative Arts Academy last Saturday, April 13th, 2019.
This event celebrates and recognizes students' high achievements in art and promotes growth in the Iowa FA Standards artistic processes. My favorite quote from a student was, "Can we do this every Saturday?" Students were interviewed by one of our four jurors, Brian Allen from the Figge Art Museum, Zaiga Minka Thorson from Black Hawk College, Sherry Mauer from Bucktown Center for the Arts and Terry Rathje about one of their works of art. They completed a written reflection component in preparation for this interview. This supported their ability to connect and respond to the artistic processes that they utilized in their work. They attended 3 workshops hosted by Heidi Hernandez, Clint Balsar, and Joseph Lappie from St. Ambrose University's Fine Arts Department. They also had a docent led tour at the Figge Art Museum. It was wonderful to collaborate with our community partners to provide an incredible art education experience for our art students.
