A Creative Arts Education to Foster Creative Minds
The Creative Arts Academy infuses individual student learning with creativity and innovation applied through a career-oriented arts foundation that prepares students for a global marketplace.
Costs
The Academy has NO CHARGE to any student who lives in Iowa and meets the March 1st Open Enrollment Deadline regardless of which district in Iowa they reside. The Academy has students from all over the Iowa Quad Cities and outlying Iowa towns attending for no cost. The only costs required to attend the Academy are for students who live out of state. There is a tuition fee of about $6,700. This tuition covers the costs the schools would not receive from the state for an Illinois resident.
Junior High School Students (7th - 8th Grade) (6th-8th starting in 2024-2025)
Intermediate level students spend their mornings in arts integrated learning experiences guided by expert teachers at Sudlow Intermediate School. The Academy partners with a variety of community partners, leveraging the resources of downtown museums and arts destinations, local arts agencies and professional artists. Students experience the arts from all disciplines as well as selecting a specific discipline they wish to specialize in, including music, visual arts, theater and communication arts (graphic design and video.) A course is offered on leadership, civic engagement and other 21st Century Skills using community arts projects. Intermediate level students attend Sudlow Intermediate School for core curriculum, receiving an arts integrated approach to subject matter that is highly engaging and motivating. The traditional Language Arts and Social Studies is blended into a “Heritage Arts” class with traditional Math and Science curriculum offered as a S.T.E.A.M. class, incorporating the Arts with Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
