The Creative Arts Academy offers visual arts students a Project Based Learning experience rich in community collaborations and partnerships. Theme based studies drive students to inquire and engage in deep and meaningful discussion and exploration of the arts. Students discover the role visual arts play in our community and human experience, past and present.
Studio exploration and media methods include studies in: ceramics, drawing, painting, sculpture, installation, and printmaking. Students explore color theory, modeling methods, drawing from observation, art discussion (reflection and critiques), figure studies, and drawing in perspective (1,2,3). Students experience contemporary art as well as art from the past through on site museum visits and visiting artists. The CAA is committed to working with community partners, giving our students the opportunity to engage real world applications to visual art solutions. Through the National Core Art Standards, students gain skills to Create, Connect, Reflect, and Present work successfully and professionally.
