21st Century Skills
21st Century Skills are more important to students now than ever before. Utilizing the Partnership for 21st Century Skills' Framework for 21st Century Learning, courses at the Academy emphasize the 4 Cs – Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Creativity – skills that all learners need for success in school, work and life.

Costs
The CAA has NO CHARGE to any student who lives in Iowa and meets the Open Enrollment Deadline regardless of which district in Iowa they reside. Students from all over the Iowa Quad Cities and outlying Iowa towns attend the CAA at no cost. The only costs required to attend the CAA are for students who live out of state. There is an out of state tuition fee which covers the costs the schools would not receive from the state for an Illinois resident.

Middle School Students (6th - 8th Grade)
Students spend two periods of their day in arts integrated learning experiences guided by expert teachers at Sudlow Middle School. The CAA partners with a variety of community partners, leveraging the resources of downtown museums and arts destinations, local arts agencies and professional artists. Students experience the arts from all disciplines as well as selecting a specific discipline they wish to specialize in, including dance, media arts, music, theatre, and visual arts. CAA students take integrated arts courses that infuse 21st Century Skills with the arts. CAA students take all other required courses at Sudlow including core subjects, PE, and the opportunity to be in the music ensembles.
High School Students (9th - 12th Grade)
High school students spend their day at Central High School with an arts focused curriculum. Students have access to the state of the art Central Performing Arts Center and other Central facilities. The CAA experience continues to give students hands on learning experiences. Teachers prepare students for post-secondary experiences through portfolio building and resume preparation.
